Comparing global electrician pay

Have you ever worried about the cost of your professional overheads, including electrician insurance?

If so, new data released by wholesaler Electrical Direct may be of interest to you. The company took a look at how much electrician insurance holders across the world earn in order to find out the best place to ply your trade.

It found that electricians here in the UK earn an annual average of £30,500. This might sound like decent earnings, but it is significantly less than the highest annual salaries in other places in the world, as follows:

  • Japan: £49,992
  • Australia: £48,631
  • Germany: £42,782
  • USA: £41,481

However, what the figures fail to account for are the costs of overheads such as electrician’s insurance, not to mention general living costs such as rent or mortgage payments. There is also a large amount of regional variation within each country. For example, in London electricians earn an average of £36,028 a year, but significantly less in other cities, for example £32,058 in Brighton and Glasgow.

Perhaps learning of these higher salaries elsewhere will motivate you to try to emigrate or perhaps you are happy where you are. Maybe you are among the lucky few who earn significantly more than the UK average? Possibly it will motivate you to try and save money on your electrician insurance. If the answer is the latter, you’ve probably come to the right place. Find out more here.
